CLIENT PERSPECTIVE
How Our Research Informed USC’s Student Recruitment
The University of Southern California sought to increase awareness and attract students from targeted geographic and demographic segments. To inform this effort, a comprehensive research program was undertaken that included in-depth interviews with high school college counselors around the country, internal interviews with recruiters at each academic unit, secondary research of peer institutions, focus groups with current USC students representing diverse demographic groups and conducting a year-long national panel to gather insights from high school seniors as they were going through the college application and decision-making process, which provided key insights that helped USC provide timely information and address issues that mattered to them. Results were used to formulate new freshman outreach and communications strategies, which we helped implement via publications for and research among high school college counselors.
